Jennifer J Brown is the incumbent City Treasurer and is running unopposed. Serving as City Treasurer since 1994, Jennifer J. Brown was elected to a fourth term on November 8, 2005. She is a member of the Treasurer's Association of Virginia , serving on the Executive Board, the Career Development Committee and the Treasurer's Association Certification Committee and has been presented the 2006 Treasurer of the Year award by the Treasurer's Association of Virginia.
The City Treasurer is an elected constitutional officer and, as such, is directly accountable to the citizens of Charlottesville. The Treasurer's Office prepares, mails and collects all tax bills for real and personal property located in the City of Charlottesville. The office also aggressively pursues the collection of all delinquent taxes owed to the city.
